The Pit II is the second "brother" of the Pit I. Its first appearance was in Mortal Kombat II, and returns for Mortal Kombat Trilogy, and again in Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks.
The arena consists of two long bridges parallel of each other very high above the ground. On the other bridge, two kombatants, Blaze and Hornbuckle do kombat (though they only ever remain static). Like its predecessor, the Pit II possesses a stage Fatality. The opponent is knocked off the bridge and falls from a incredibly high altitude where their body is smashed against the hard, flat earth. Unlike the previous Pit incarnation, the player is required to input a unique combination depending on the character.
In Mortal Kombat Trilogy, the Pit II remains virtually unchanged, but lacks the stage Fatality as it would require unique falling sprites for the non-MKII characters.
In Mortal Kombat Shaolin Monks, the Pit II is the final location of Smoke's quests to unlock Mortal Kombat II and remains visually unchanged. The player is required to execute the stage Fatality on multiple opponents by simply uppercutting them off the bridge where their bodies break apart after impacting with the ground. Blaze and Hornbuckle also present in the arena as well, and no longer static as they are actually seen fighting one another.
