Atari is an American video game company that who's name has changed and ownership have been changed through all of its years of existence. Originally named Atari Inc. founded in 1972 as a video game developer and publisher by Nolan Bushnell. It's arcade game, Pong was the first commercially successful arcade game, and video game console, the Atari 2600 became a famous video game console inspiring many other game companies to have their games on cartridges. The name of the company changed in 1984 and split into Atari Corp manufacturer of consoles, and Atari Games, the arcade division. In 1998 it became Atari Interactive as a division of Hasbro Interactive. In 2003 is was still called Atari Interactive but separate of Hasbro. Then in the same year the name was changed back to the original Atari Inc. as a division of Infrogames all the way to the present.
